SAS: Zombie Assault is an absolute classic in the online zombie game genre. This engrossing, addictive zombie killing fest is one of the best zombie games out there. Your goal couldn't be more simple. Kill the zombies and don't let them kill you. Pretty easy to understand, not quite as easy to accomplish. With three modes of play to choose from - normal, hard and nightmare - you can easily choose a difficulty setting that's right for you. Newcomers to the genre that are having a bit of trouble getting the hang of the controls will want to stick to the 'normal' setting to begin with as 'hard' and 'nightmare' definitely earn their names.

It isn't hard to tell why SAS: Zombie Assault is such a popular game. As far as zombie games go, the graphics here are great. The zombies actually look like zombies, the gore is enough to please the gore hounds without the game centering completely around blood and guts. The backgrounds aren't bland and dull, but they're also not so flashy they distract from the game play. The focus here is where it should be - on making the game hard without making it impossible. The ability to repair barriers is a great addition that helps you avoid being torn limb from limp by zombies right away. Since you can shoot zombies through barriers you are given a slight advantage, although certainly not enough of an advantage that the game becomes too easy.

The upgrades you can buy throughout SAS: Zombie Assault are well worth the money. Keep an eye out for bonuses during the game as well which allow you to double your money. This helps you get the upgrades you want much quicker. From weapons upgrades to upgraded barriers, there is a lot you'll want to buy that will help your game last longer - and in a game that's this much fun, that's definitely something you want to do. Don't waste your money on upgrades in the beginning though. If you don't need them, don't buy them. The game gets increasingly more difficult as it progresses, so you'll want to save your money for the upgrades you'll need later in the game.

One of my favorite things about SAS: Zombie Assault is the freedom to choose the controls you are most comfortable using. For left-handed people, the option to use the left side of your keyboard to navigate through the game is invaluable. This game was definitely designed to be accessible to everyone which is something many zombie games can't claim. Overall, this is one of the best zombie games online. It's no wonder it has spawned so many sequels. It's a game you're going to want to play again and again.
